I’m not a theologian or an expert or anybody that anybody needs to listen to. I’m just someone who sincerely desires to be a disciple of Jesus Christ.
Vine’s New Testament Word Search defines the Greek word (Mathetes) that is translated disciple as: “Lit., ‘a learner’, it denotes ‘one who follows one’s teachings’. A disciple was not only a pupil, but an adherent; hence they’re spoken of as imitators of their teacher. So, a disciple of Jesus Christ follows his example: 1 Peter 2:21.
I’ve lived 53 years as a believer, one that believed with the head but not necessarily with the whole heart; however by the power of the Holy Spirit, my desire is to live the rest of my life as a disciple of Christ. I know this isn’t something I can do on my own, so I begin each day by spending time with my heavenly Father. I invite Him to walk with me in the garden, like the old gospel hymn, “I walk through the garden alone….” He always comes and He guides me into truth just like He promises in His word. I pray that God will continue to reveal Himself to me in deep and profoundly life-changing ways.
Feel free come with me on the journey.
